Roleplay Basics
-- Roleplaying is basicly story writing BUT only as your own character that is yours to control.
- I needed to get that strait.
- When you control someone elses character it is called: Powerplaing
- You will learn more about Powerplaying as the guide goes on.
-- You also have a set of rules in a Roleplay that you MUST follow or else it might ruin the roleplay or make it seem really unfair.
-- You usually and more commonly talk in third person. [But you may talk in second or first person- depending on others]
- That means you talk with the words: He, She, They, Them ect.
- Instead of: I, us, me.
- Youa re also your own character.
-- You can have as many characters. Just be creative. Unless the person who started the roleplay sets a minimum and maximum of characters.
-- You will learn more as you go on through this guide.
Roleplaying Rules
-- Do not Powerplay~ That is when you yourself control another person's character. It is not fair and will make the roleplay boring and unfair[as I said]. here ir an example of powerplaying:
Person 1: Gared looked toward the tower where Gard, the evil villan, lived. dark clouds hung over it.
Person 2: Gard suddenly appered out of no where and grabbed Gared's shoulder. "Help!" Gared shouted.
That was powerplaying. the second person suddenly used Gared, Person 1's character which was unfair. so DO NOT powerplay.
-- Do not Godmod~ That is when your character excceeds the limit of their power and just makes up stuff. like if you are a normal human in elementary school andyou suddenly shoot lazers from your eyes. That woudlnt be fair. also another example of godmodeling is this:
Person 1: Gared grabbed his sword.
Person 2: Gard grabbed Gared's neck and chocked him then that was the end of the story and Gard wins. No one lives happily ever after.
That was Godmodding and did you noticed the roleplay siddenly ended and everything went boring again. if you are going to have a big fight scene let the other person respond before giving the killing blow. also you absalutly have to ask the person if you can kill their character. Then because if you do not ask the roleplay will seem unfair and it may quickly end just like the one above.
-- no bad words or anything like that.
-- If you dont follow the rules your roleplay dies or just gets plain boring and you will just have to make a new one.
Roleplaying
-- This is where you really learn roleplaying.
-- When roleplaying -as i said- you must talk in third person like this:
Saly walked down the street looking back and forth for any sign of her friends.
-- When you roleplay dont just respond with a oneliner, a response that only consist of one line like some of my examples. Those replies are hard for the other person to reply to.
-- If there is a main character dont 'wander'
- When you wander you get your topic off the main character or subject. Then you feel left out and no one can respond. like this:
Person 1: Dera{main character} walked toward the market place. her eyes moving from side to side. she knew that her father would be in the crowds of people who are ready to buy or sell.
Person 2: Gidman sat down quietly on the ground.
There is one of many examples. is you can see you yourself cannot respond to it. But you can do many things to keep it on subject even though it already wandered. If you control the main character in my example you could say:
Dera then sighed. her father was not there but she looked up and saw a boy far in the distance. she qucikly ran up to him. her light brown hair flowing in the wind with hopes that he may know where her father is.
Then it will be fixed. but try to avoid 'wondering' so no one gets treated unfairly.
-- When Roleplaying you dont talk like this:
Gared: Hi everyone *walks around and snickers*
Sally: Hello, what are you doing here *looks around suspiciously.*
it gets annoying at times but there are some acceptions. so dont worry about it.
-- You talk like this in a roleplay:
Gerad walked into the room and smiled. "Hi." he said
- When your character is talking use quotations: ""
- When you are talking as yourself then use ooc or these things: ()()
-- Also when you roleplay try to spell right. But just like me, I cant spell right all the time. lol!! so just try your best.
-- Stick to the plot. do not wander away -as is said- just dont. it makes the roleplay boring and ruins the whole thing.
-- Try to keep up with everyone. dont get left behind.
-- Try to be active on your roleplays.
-- Be fair in all ways so people dont get bored of the roleplay and leave.
-- Also be respectful.
-- At most times try to make the roleplay better and more exciting. dont just say:
They walked on and on until they reached the kings palace and finally got there.
It gets boring.
-- you could also fast forward time at some times. dont do it all the time.
-- There is always a chance of getting bored on a roleplay so dont take that risk.
