** Intro
Ankh-Morpork isn't your ordinary city. It's the city where Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels take place! It has the elements of London in the 18th Century and modern day NYC mixed together into the funniest series ever! Who other than Terry Pratchett would have a city with an Assassin's Guild? Or a Thief's Guild?
Discworld is a little too vast for me to explain in one post, so click here for more info.
** Setting
The setting is in Ankh-Morpork in general. Click here for a zoom-inable map
The Shades are the worst part of town. It's not a good idea to go in there alone, especially if you're a copper! The streets have no names that I know of, so if you're in there, please don't make up names for the streets!
This is in a time where all of the streets are paved in cobblestones and there are no guns, no cars, no nothing. I do believe they have plumbing to some extent, not positive on that.
** Guilds
There are a TON of guilds, one for practically every job. Here are some of them-
There are some other... organizations, not really guilds, but important nonetheless.
The Watch (Day & Night)
This is like a police force. The Day Watch pretty much sucks, but the Night Watch is just plain awesome. Normally it's led by a captain, and just like the police, for every station there is a captain. The Psuedopolis Yard Station is where most of the action takes place.
The Unseen University
This is like a guild for magicians, except they're pretty crazy in there
The librarian is an orangutan, but nobody except for new people notice it.
** Government
The awesomderful tyrant, Vetinari, was once an assassin. Now he is the patrician of the city, and manages to somehow keep it running smoothly
NOT PLAYABLE
Guild Leaders
These lead all of the little guilds. They meet to discuss matters in the patrician's manor-ish thing.
Playable
Other
Commander Vimes holds some say in the decisions, similar to the barons, earls and dukes of the city.
You can't play Vimes, but the "royalty" (barons, dukes, earls, etc.) are playable, though there shall be few of them.
** Species
The main species is human, though you can be a troll, dwarf, zombie, vampire, or a werewolf.
Human: nothing special about you guys
Troll: You're pretty thick, but your brain works faster the colder it is. When I say thick, I mean you can't count higher than 5. You hate dwarfs for the most part
Dwarf: You're short. If you're a girl, you DON'T SHOW IT! All dwarfs grow beards and appear masculine. You hate trolls for the most part.
Zombie: Most guilds don't have these...
Vampire: If you are a "civil" vampire, as in you try not to drink blood of humans, you are a black ribboner. If you are a black ribboner, you can NOT drink blood. Vampires are prohibited from joining the Watch, and probably the slaughterhouse wouldn't like you either. You despise werewolves.
When you turn into a bat, you turn into lots of bats. Not just one. And if you are a male, your clothes do reappear on you, but not for females.
Werewolf: Nothing incredible about you guys, but you can turn into a wolf whenever you want, you are only forced to be a wolf the night of the full moon. If you are in the Watch, it would be a good idea to wear your badge around your neck on a collar. Your clothes do not follow you around! You hate vampires.
** Bio form
Name, gender and age: self explanatory
Species: choose from the above choices
Guild: Basically whatever your job is. If you're a baker, put Baker's Guild. If you're in the Watch, put Watch.
appearance, attitude: what does your character look like, act like?
Brief history: I don't need much, but if you want to post an all-out history, go right ahead.
Other?: Anything significant that isn't covered in those topics. For instance, if you are a dwarf and you're openly female, that's where you'd put that.

** Guilds
There are a TON of guilds, one for practically every job. Here are some of them-
- Assasin's Guild (Right next door to the Clown's Guild)
this Guild is odd. People come to them to kill people, and depending on how important s/he is, for a price. Only two people cannot be killed, the patrician of the city, and the commander of the Watch. These shady people always wear black robes and take great pride in killing people. You can take comfort in that when you are about to die, you will at least know who paid the assassin, and how much s/he was paid to kill you. - Thieves' Guild
Again, not the most common guild to see in a city. They can steal whatever they want; the law permits people, if they have a thieves license, to steal whatever they desire. However you can pay a yearly fee to the Guild and you recieve a plaque to put over your door, preventing registered thieves from breaking and entering. - Lawyers Guild
Your normal guild, except it is led by a zombie - Musician's Guild
- Architect's Guild
There are some other... organizations, not really guilds, but important nonetheless.
