The full moon floated above in the deep, dark night. A soft wind gently rustled the leaves of a far off Rowan tree, and the sound wafted on the wind to the ears of many cats. One in particular picked her ears. Her name was Graywhisper. She was a petite, yet strong young she-cat. She was twenty-four moons of age, with long legs and a sleek pelt of mottled silver fur. Her eyes were bright blue, and danced with enjoyment as they neared the Island. Her heart began to pound and she slowed down as she felt her chest tighten with anticipation. She then sped up, careful not to pass the clan leader, but eager to step onto the Island. Finally, her clan began to file onto the tree bridge. Their claws scored the bark as they padded across, then lept onto the sand on the other side. Graywhisper hopped on when it was her turn, and walked across as fast as she could without tripping or falling. Within seconds, she hopped onto the other side and leaped through the dense undergrowth.
She slowed as she got the the other side of the plants, eying each and every cat. Some faces were familiar, some she couldn't recognize. But she only wanted to see one face. Where is he, where is he?! She thought rapidly in her head. Her eyes surveyed the groups of cats, but soon she grew restless and bounded off into the ranks. She couldn't find him, but she knew he was here.
Who is he, you ask? He is the tom Graywhisper had fallen in love with over the last three Gatherings she had attended. The first one, he was merely a face; second gathering, a friend; third, they had started to fall in love. And now, now she had to tell him how she felt. They couldn't limit themselves to only seeing each other during Gatherings. No, she had found the perfect place for the two of them. In the next two nights, they would sneak out at Twilight and meet by the Old Twoleg path. Yes, Graywhisper from ShadowClan, would go to see Smokefall of ThunderClan. They would hide in the undergrowth, and she would lead him to the abandoned Badger cave she had found. It was big enough for five cats. She had it all planned out in her head, now all she had to do was find him, and tell him her intentions. All she had to do was find him...

”Excuse me! Pardon me!”, muttered a large bulky figure. Surrounding him were the cats of the clans. Many- yes, however, their faces were not at all who he deemed to focus on. Smokefall, being the shaggy light grey tom he was, tried his best to pick his way through the crowd- something his was definitely not good at for he was quite large and his fur was such a burden. He shook his head and turned his shimmering golden eyes up to the leaders who not yet had decided when they would start announcing news from each clan. Good. That will buy me time.
Adding to the silhouettes of the cats above came the leader of ThuderClan. He had been late and thus, the rest of his impatient clan had to arrive last. Oh, Graywhisper! Where are you? He thought franticly. Smokefall had promised the beautiful light gray she-cat that he would definitely be at the gathering and the last thing he wanted to do this night was disappointed. For this was a special night. It just felt special in every way. The moon was bright, the clouds drifted along by to uncover a clear dark grey Silverpelt, scattered with the stars of StarClan like the cats gathering below. The wind was calm and the temperature was just perfect. It was a perfect night all and all, but wait! It wasn’t a perfect night for Smokefall. Not at all. It was missing something. Something very important. The one he loved: Graywhisper. The tom had never thought that he would turn sweet on the femme since the first time they had met at a gathering three moons ago and here they are now.
And for a special night, Smokefall had to look his best. The fur upon his pelt was finely groomed while his tail was delightfully fluffed. His ears were perked and clean and his eyes shone brightly in all their glory. He always wanted to look his best just to impress Graywhisper in every way possible, if not his charm had gotten to her heart first. He himself couldn’t wait to see the beautiful she-cat that had been floating within his dreams for moons on end now. However, there was one problem with their simple romance. It was the one factor that made it much more complicated than he wished. It was the fact that they were from different clans. He knew they would have to deal with that problem soon enough, yet he dreaded it as each gathering passed. However, he was willing to over-come it anyways. Besides, love conquers all, doesn’t it?

Graywhisper padded around a black tom. Her anxiety from growing. She couldn't find him. Her heart pounded loud against her chest. The meeting would start any minute! How would she give him the news if the leaders started talking? The Clans had to leave immediately afterward. She walked to the middle of the clearing, then sat down with a sigh. Her blue eyes scanned the faces of every cat, but they were not the faces she wanted. He must not of come. Wait! Who was that over there? Graywhisper sprang up when she saw the fluffy shape of Smokefall. Her heart pounded even harder than before. She wanted to call out to him, but she couldn't with all these cats around. She padded over casually, trying not to provoke any suspicions. But her steps got wider and quicker and soon she found herself running across the grassy ground. She intercepted the gray tom. She refrained from licking his face and led him into the dense undergrowth.
Once they were in the safety of the leaves, she exploded into loud purring and pushed her head under his muzzle. She had a lifetime of longing in her eyes. "Oh, Smokefall! I thought you weren't here! I'm so glad you are though. Great StarClan, how I've missed you." Her words were drowned out by her intense purring and she wrapped herself around the handsome young tom whom she loved. "I have great news to tell you!" She exclaimed, suddenly remembering the secret meeting place she had found.

Smokefall’s glittering golden eyes suddenly widened as wide as the moon as he spotted the feminine shape of Graywhisper. He took an eager step forward yet just as she, he realized that they would have to play it cool until they reached the safety of the bushes. His body vibrated in near excitement as he looked down upon the beautiful she-cat with large golden pools of relief. Her face was just as beautiful- if not more- tonight and it was a comforting sight to see. This relaxed him for he had news to tell her and it would certainly be hard if there was no one to tell it to. He shook his dark gray pelt, his paws dancing happily as he walked beside her into the nearby bushes that would serve as their clever cover.
Immediately, the sight of what seemed like two friends suddenly changed to the appearance of the two lovers. The warrior tom gave out a hearty chuckle as he swiped his tongue over her ear lovingly. ”I thought we would never leave ThunderClan camp! The leader took forever picking out the warriors to come to this gathering and I was almost missed!” He wailed in a whiney fashion. True, ThunderClan should’ve left long ago, unfortunately the leader took his precious time for because of two newly made apprentices, he wasn’t able to decide if they should or shouldn’t go. Yet in the end, the troublesome apprentices were allowed to come and they were off.
The shaggy tom raised an eyebrow as her next statement went straight to his ears. ”News? And what would this be, dear?” He purred in a smooth gentle voice. He wrapped his tail tightly around the femme and gave another vibrating purr that could be described as gentle earthquake.

Graywhisper relunctantly pulled away and sat down a few inches from Smokefall. "We no longer have to only meet at Gatherings! I found this den by the old Twoleg Path. We go through these bushes, and crawl down this tennel. Then, it openes into this huge cave! It can fit us, plus three others. It s purrfect. The words poured from her mouth like a waterfall. Her blue eyes burned into his golden one's. "We could meet in a couple days, at Twilight."
She sat there for a moment, just basking in his warmth. Then she notices cats were beginning to group around the Great Oak. She looked sadly at Smokefall, then bowed her head. "We should go. Anything you need to tell me?" She asked, wrapping her tail around his dark gray shoulders. She licked the scruffy fur on the top of his head and waited patiently for his reply.

His shimmering eyes widened as she released the location of where they would later meet in actual secrecy. A place where the clan cats couldn’t find them and the two lovers could finally be in peace, alone and undisturbed. ”That’s perfect!! We-we could finally relax and not worry ‘bout others finding out about us!” He swept his tongue over her ear, purring oh so loudly. ”You’re brilliant, Graywhisper! Just Brilliant!” Smokefall nodded to her plan. It would be perfect! The cats of the clans would be sleeping and they could sneak out when the moon is high in the sky and no one would know about it.
Unfortunately, their time was short here at the gathering. The cats were beginning to collect below the leaders and they were ready to announce their news about the clan that would signal the end of this special gathering that Smokefall had been looking forward to for a long time. His ears twitched lightly as she asked if he had anything to say. ”Uhh, it can wait.” He murmured giving the beautiful she-cat a wide toothy grin. ”Come on, let’s go.” He playfully placed a heavy paw upon her tail, giving her muzzle a few licks before bounding off, kicking her backwards in the gentlest manner. ”Slow-poke!” The shaggy tom purred leaping away to join the many shadows of cats by the Great Oak.

Graywhisper basked under his praise. It was true. They could be completely comfortable in their secret place. Sure, the days inbetween would be terrible and full of longing, but when they finally met, it would be worth it. The only thing that worried her was her lack of sleep. As a warrior of ShadowClan, her leader would get suspicious if she began to lack on her duties.
She twitched her ears as Smokefall said was he had to say could wait and stood up. Before she knew it, he had dashed out from behind the bushes. She let out a mrrow of amusement and chased after him, her gray tail streaming out like a banner. Soon, she was neck-and-neck with him. She slowed down, though, when she remembered they couldn't be seen together. She said good-bye with her eyes, then slowly padded off to join the cats in her own Clan.
Graywhisper ended up sitting next to her best friends Cinderfrost and Peachflower. She let out a soft sigh and sat up to listen to what the leaders had to say. "Hey, Graywhisper. What's wrong?" Cinderfrost asked, tilting her dark gray head. Her light blue eyes were fixed on her friend. "I bet it's a tom!" Peachflower giggled, figeting in her seat. Graywhisper started at Peachflower's statement. "N-no. It's not a tom, no way! I don't like toms! I don't know any toms. Heh heh..." She layed her ears back in embarrasment and hissed quietly to herself while her friends jusr stared at her in confusion.
The first leader took a step forward, Frigidstar from RiverClan. He began to speak and the clans quieted down.
